Any Input?

I was asked to give a talk for Young Women In Excellence on the importance of self-worth. I am completely overwhelmed; I don't think that we could talk about this subject enough, especially to adolescent girls. Does anyone have any particular feelings/recent insight on this subject?

When you get your talk done, will you email it to me? Because I have to give the SAME talk next week. And I'm not really joking about this. I'll email you the notes I already have.

I gave this one a couple of years ago to our YW -- as i recall my angle was this -- we are each the HERO of our own life story. Everyone is a different kind of heroine just like all the heroines we love in books are all different...

one thing that I think went well was the opener. I asked the girls to think of someone who they considered to be a hero or great influence in their life. Then asked them name the qualities of their real life hero. After all the qualities were up on the board we looked at them and noticed that NONe of the description had anything to do w/ physical body. Then we asked them to describe the physical body of the person they were thinking of. We ended up with all kinds of attributes -- short, fat, tall, small, grey hair, no hair, etc. etc. etc.

There is a talk by Elder Holland in 2005 talking about image and body type that is really good.

way too much info...hope something helps!
