Obsession

Since we found our we're having a girl I've wanted to do something to get ready. Luckily my dad knows someonewho had two little girls and is done, so she said she would give us her baby clothes. Huge blessing. We'll get them in a month or two (they're over in Seattle), and I don't really want to buy more clothes until I see what she has. This leaves me with the problem of not knowing what to do to at least make me feel like I am preparing to have a baby in 19 weeks.

Cue headband obsession. I'm making nylon headbands and making flowers, bows, and other embellishments to clip to the headband. If I put an alligator clip under each....thing...then I can either have a headband or a hairbow, and switch what color headband goes with each bow. And when I say "making" I really mean obsessively planning on what kind of flowers, bows, etc. I want to make and finding free tutorials online for them. Here is a great website I'm starting with that links to tutorials. Buying supplies will come later. When I have a car.

Don't worry--all accessories for my baby's head will be in proportion to her head size. The great thing about this project? It makes me feel somewhat thrifty--I can use all of my old nylons for this--at least the ones where the runs started in the toe and didn't get too far, or the ones where I poked my finger through the waistband while trying to hoist them up my plump pregnant legs. Now I won't fret that I go through a pair a week!

PS: Pregnant picture coming soon. My friend Mariah posted a pregnant pic. She's 27 weeks, and looks like I did at 12 weeks. Sunday my sister said, "I don't believe that there's only one baby in there!" And that was my tactful sister.

Tom made a whole bunch of those flower clips when we found out we were having Celia. Okay, I made them, they all fell off, and then Tom sat down with all of them one evening and made them all work. Celia wore them on headbands as a baby and still wears them as regular clips now. They're her favorite. I could have used a tutorial...

When I was pregnant my sister said it looked like my baby was doing a toe touch inside me . . . and actually, it did look like that.
